About

Just as filmmakers & playwrights like Tyler Perry infuse mainstream story with Christian messages, Younger Music Group produces music that combines Hip Hop beats with thoughtful rhymes in order to provide young people with an infectious musical alternative.

For skeptics of the marrying of Hip Hop with Christianity, we ask: Who is the giver of gifts? Is Satan a creator or a perverter of that which is good? Can gifts be reclaimed and used for God’s glory? The gospel is always about content, (the good news of Jesus’ birth, death, burial and resurrection as the provision for God and man to be reconciled), it is not a sound, neither is it only legitimized when its sung, or sung by certain people.

Hip Hop should be, and historically has been, about telling one’s story – like the African griots of old, that told stories to a drum beat. Christ can utilize any tool of His creation – including Hip Hop – to minister to hurting people who need to know His plan of redemption, love, and grace. Hip Hop from a Christian worldview is more for how Jesus works in us, around us, through us and in spite of us, as we move through this life. This Christian hip hop movement is about stealing back what the devil stole from us – our music, our message, and our youth! The music YMG produces does what music has long done for the church when it is used rightly–it encourages worship of the one true God.

Younger Music seeks to make a lasting difference that will not only help save souls for the Kingdom of God, but to also show the mainstream music industry that there is a voice and an audience for Hip Hop music that doesn’t glorify material trappings, illicit drug use, and sexual promiscuity. Are traditional Church fellowships really ready to help young artists succeed with a genre of music that many in the past have already condemned?
